WARREN – East Bay Newspapers was named business of the year by the East Bay Chamber of Commerce in October.
The award, given during an Oct. 17 ceremony, heralded the media company as one of the oldest businesses in the East Bay, “combining a rich history with a bright future.”
According to East Bay Newspapers, its flagship paper, The Bristol Phoenix, has been published without interruption for 176 years, since its first issue in 1837. Its youngest newspaper, The Portsmouth Times, launched in spring 2013 and has grown readership 400 percent in six months.
The company employs 31 people, publishing seven other newspapers.
Earlier this year, East Bay Newspapers merged with another local business, The Chatter Group. Now called One Bradford, the division of East Bay Newspapers provides logo-design, printing, marketing and other business services. •
