California company buys East Providence’s North American Shoe

EAST PROVIDENCE – Succession Capital, a Lynx Equity subsidiary, has acquired North American Shoe Co.
North American Shoe Co., established in 1918, is a distributor of men’s, women’s and children’s footwear throughout North America. The footwear wholesaler also collaborates on footwear designs for some of its retail customers.
According to its website, North American Shoe Co. is the sole distributor in the U.S. for Foamtread slippers, Tundra boots and Beeko, a children’s line. The company, which employs nine, will remain in Rhode Island.
“With nearly 100 years in existence, this company has demonstrated its permanence in the marketplace. These results have been a product of strong fundamentals and the ability to be dynamic in an ever-changing industry,” Lynx President Brad Nathan said in a statement. “We are thrilled to have acquired our second company in the footwear space and look forward to capitalizing on synergies where they exist.”
North American Shoe Co. joins San Diego-based Succession Capital’s portfolio of 42 companies across North America, including Toronto, Canada-based Baker Shoe Co.
Purchase price was not disclosed.
