Edesia and Russell Morin Catering announce philanthropic initiative

PROVIDENCE – A joint philanthropic venture, “Saving Lives is a Piece of Cake,” between Edesia and Russell Morin Catering & Events which could save the lives of 400 malnourished children in the world’s most at-risk regions was announced Thursday.

Russell Morin will donate $50 for every wedding cake or dessert station purchased and $25 for every ceremonial cake ordered through its bakery to Edesia, producer of Plumpy’Nut and other ready-to-use-foods that are distributed to fight malnutrition in places such as Liberia, Kenya and Syria.

The catering company orchestrates more than 350 events each year and expects the estimated annual donation to top $15,000.

“The opportunity to help Edesia, a local nonprofit organization, save lives on a global scale was an easy decision for our company. We hope that our partnership will inspire other organizations to support Edesia’s mission as well,” he added.

Navyn Salem, Edesia’s founder and CEO, is thrilled by the partnership. She said, “Anyone who chooses Russell Morin for their special event – brides, grooms, event planners and corporate clients – should feel really good knowing that they also helped change the world for the better.”
