The historic Edgewood Yacht Club burned several years ago, following a lightning strike. A replacement is being constructed over its original footprint, which is over the water. Pilings recently were installed, which will support the decking, which in turn will support the new structure. The $4.74 million project is to be built in three phases. The nonprofit yacht club is using an insurance payment and fundraising to cover the costs. The architect is Providence-based Site Specific LLC. General contractor for the initial phase, which includes the pilings, is Narragansett Dock Works Inc.
