WARWICK – Electronic Alarms, a division of American Alarm and Communications Inc., announced Monday that it has acquired AAA Custom Alarm Systems of Warwick.

Founded and owned by R.I. Rep. Joseph A. Trillo, R-Warwick, AAA Custom served as an alarm vendor and installer and monitoring service in Rhode Island for more than 40 years. In a news release announcing the acquisition, Trillo said he made the decision to sell his company so he can spend more time with his family while continuing to serve as a state representative.

“This is an important milestone for two companies with deep roots in Rhode Island,” said Henry Guzeika Jr., general manager of Electronic Alarms. “By bringing our teams together, we further enhance our ability to deliver top security technologies and quality services to our customers, while maintaining local management and a family business approach to everything we do.”

All AAA Custom staff will remain with the company and relocate to the Electronic Alarms facility at 2525 West Shore Road in Warwick, the company said. Trillo will stay on as a consultant to ensure a smooth transition. Customers of AAA Custom will not experience any interruption of service or alarm monitoring as a result of the acquisition, according to the company.

“I would not have taken this step unless I was completely confident that all of my customers would be in superb hands,” said Trillo.

Last January, Electronic Alarms acquired West Greenwich-based security company P&J Alarm, and also kept on all of P&J Alarm’s employees. Electronic Alarms now employs 27 people at its Warwick location, including the three full-time employees who will join Electronic Alarms from AAA Custom.

Electronic Alarms serves as the American Alarm and Communications branch office in Rhode Island. American Alarm, headquartered in Arlington, Mass., also operates branch offices in Auburn and Randolph, Mass., and in Windham, N.H.

“We are pleased to welcome the AAA Custom Alarm Systems customers and team to our family of companies,” said Wells Sampson, president of American Alarm and Communications, in the release. “The Trillos and Guzeikas are among the first families of security in Rhode Island and we share with them a common set of business values that are based truth, integrity, quality service and always putting the customer first.”
