Entrepreneurs wanted for SNEEF ‘Piranha Pond’

FALL RIVER – Entrepreneurs are invited to apply to present at the annual “Piranha Pond” event hosted by the Southern New England Entrepreneurs Forum, to be held Thursday, Sept. 11, at the Advanced Technology and Manufacturing Center in Fall River.
The deadline for applications is Sept. 1.
The Piranha Pond is a “pitch party” where eight selected entrepreneurs each have up to five minutes to convince a panel of investors to meet with them to discuss funding their ventures. Using a format similar to the popular television show “Shark Tank,” the investors provide feedback to the entrepreneurs about their presentations and companies, and information about why they decide to be “in” or “out.”
Investors who are “in” will meet with the winning entrepreneur at a later time to discuss the venture. If they are “out,” there is no interest at this time.
For this event, SNEEF is seeking companies beyond the idea or “napkin” stage, preferably with revenue or a working prototype. The ideal company will have raised funds from friends or family and/or through grants. If the company’s product is a software or SAAS product, it should be in beta testing or later.
The application to apply for the event costs $50, and interested entrepreneurs may register at www.piranhapond.com.
Piranha Pond is co-sponsored by the 128 Innovation Capital Group. The 2014 event will be held on Sept. 11 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth ATMC, located at 151 Martine St. in Fall River. SNEEF members may attend the event for no charge, while tickets cost $25 for 128 Innovation Capital Group members and $35 for all others.
