Event raises $8.6K for Courthouse Center

SOUTH KINGSTOWN – Sixty South County patrons of the arts helped raise $8,600 at the Courthouse Center for the Arts for the performing arts center’s Fun Fall Fundraiser.
“The Courthouse had a marvelously successful fundraiser with a very enthusiastic group in attendance,” said Courthouse President Joe Orlando. “Comments from those attending were all positive and it shows that the Courthouse is back and becoming a destination for Rhode Islanders.”
The Courthouse Center for the Arts, a nonprofit community-based arts organization located in Kingston, was founded in 1989. The group’s mission is to provide to the greater Rhode Island community exceptional arts programs, year round, linked to gallery exhibits, theatrical productions, concert performances and educational opportunities.
The Matunuck Oyster Bar provided 500 oysters, and Chianti’s, Belmont Market, Marko’s Restaurant, Sons of Liberty, Gaeber’s Liquors, and 300 North and Sweet Cakes donated other delicacies. Clark Farm, Sunset Farm, Briarbrook Farm and Liberty Rentals provided fall decorations.
Lucky’s American Grill, Carriage Inn and Saloon, Twisted Pizza, Highland Farm, Alpine Country Club, YKSM, Debra Vierra Murphy and Billy Montella Jr. donated gift certificates and auction items. Joanne Daly, who donated her winnings back to the Courthouse, won the 50/50 raffle.
The Jen Minuto Quartet and other guitarists and Courthouse members performed.
