AN EVENT at Aurora on Westminster Street will be held Thursday to celebrate the recent acquisition of ShapeUp by Virgin Pulse and other startup news.

PROVIDENCE – The recent acquisition of ShapeUp by Virgin Pulse along with other accomplishments in the startup community will be celebrated Thursday at an event at Aurora on Westminster Street.
Hosts include Betaspring, Founders League, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island, the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce, Figmints LLC, and Focal Upright Furniture LLC, among others.
Speakers include Melissa Withers, managing director of Betaspring, and Peter Andruszkiewicz, president and CEO of BCBSRI.
Betaspring’s repeat inclusion as one of the top accelerators in the country by the Seed Accelerator Rankings Project also will be highlighted, as well as other individual company accomplishments.
More than 100 people are expected to attend the event, which will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

The event also marks the return of Startup Drinks, the usually monthly meetup of Rhode Island entrepreneurs that went on hiatus two years ago.
