Expert: Older Americans responsive to email

NEW YORK – Chris Paradysz, CEO and founder of digital marketing PM Digital, says the 55 and older crowd is responsive to email.
Social media is important, he said in a news release on Nov. 18, but email “is back and growing,” especially with the 55+ crowd – it has 2011 targeting and lifecycle-triggering capabilities along with “circa-2002 simplicity.”
Paradysz highlighted seven shopping trends, asserting that tablets will replace print with “more allure and connection,” and that e-commerce is increasingly directed to mobile devices.
Other trends included:

  • Luxury spending is on a steep rise despite the down economies in the U.S. and Europe.
  • Brands better integrate their channels – ask NetBook, Netflix.
  • Nonprofits need to brand and earn their donations online.
  • Catalogs matter and so does direct mail.
