FALL RIVER – The Fall River Heritage State Park Boardwalk is undergoing a $1.54 million replacement project, thanks to recent approval by the Mass. Seaport Advisory Council.

Owned by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, the boardwalk was originally constructed almost 30 years ago to provide 1,915 feet of timber along the water’s edge to promote public access.

Funding for the replacement project, along with all approved Seaport Advisory Council projects, was supported by the Energy and Environmental Bond Bill, signed by Gov. Deval L. Patrick in 2008. The Seaport Advisory Council also recently approved infrastructure and economic-development projects in Scituate, Provincetown, Chatham and Chilmark.
