FarSounder awarded foreign military sales contract to provide systems for U.S. Navy vessels

WARWICK – FarSounder Inc. has been awarded a contract to provide FarSounder-1000 systems for two U.S. Navy-transferred OSPREY Class Mine Hunter Coastal Vessels.
FarSounder’s dealer, Voyager Maritime Alliance Group of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., sold the systems through its customer, VSE Corp. The order is under a foreign military sales contract through the Naval Sea Systems Command International Fleet Support.
“This contract award demonstrates the strategic benefits of deploying FarSounder’s commercially developed 3-D navigation and obstacle avoidance systems,” Cheryl M. Zimmerman, CEO of FarSounder, a high-tech marine electronics manufacturer specializing in underwater acoustics, said in a statement. “They are advanced, cost-effective products for not only commercial vessels, but also for global defense and border control operations.”
The FarSounder-1000 3D Forward Looking Sonar provides the OSPREY MHC Vessels real-time navigation information ahead of vessels operating at full range even in shallow water. This allows for safer, faster and more accurate navigation decisions for the vessel users, according to FarSounder.
