PROVIDENCE – The Federal Hill Commerce Association will hold two culinary events to welcome NCAA basketball fans visiting Providence and to celebrate the feast of San Giuseppe – also known as St. Joseph.

The Dunkin’ Donuts Center will host eight teams competing in preliminary rounds of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship on March 17 and March 19.

The association said the culinary events are designed to showcase Federal Hill restaurants and are open to public.

The first event will be held March 17 from noon to 5 p.m. at Garibaldi park next to the arch on Atwells Avenue. Food from Roma and Biergarten will be available, and there will be music from a disc jockey.

On March 19, to celebrate San Giuseppe Day, the blessing of the zeppole will be held at noon, kicking off a block party featuring music and food. Acorn street will be closed between Atwells Avenue and Spruce Street for the block party, which will end at 8 p.m. The block party will feature food including the traditional zeppole, as well as beverages and selections from Tony’s Colonial, DaVinci Ristorante, Roma, Harry’s Bar & Burger, Café Pazzo and Biergarten.
