Culinary Arts Museum to host yearly event for the first time
PROVIDENCE, RI, October 4, 2012—The Federal Hill House recently announced the list of restaurants and caterers taking part in this year’s Taste of the Hill, the organization’s 10th annual fundraising event. The event will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at the Culinary Arts Museum at Johnson & Wales, Harborside Campus, Providence. Many of Federal Hill’s finest restaurants, caterers, and bakeries will take part in the event. Major sponsors include Providence Monthly, Rhode Island Cardiovascular Group, and Ameriprise Financial Services, Cranston.
Tickets for Taste of the Hill are $40.00 in advance and $50.00 at the door. They can be purchased online by going to www.tasteofthehill.org or by calling Carmela Russas at 401-421-4722.
“Taste of the Hill gives attendees a chance to sample food from some of Rhode Island’s best restaurants,” says Nina Pande, executive director, Federal Hill House. “Hundreds of people who love good food include Taste of the Hill on their “go to” list of events. This year’s special guest honoree is Steven Costantino, Executive Secretary of Health and Human Services, State of Rhode Island. The proceeds from Taste of the Hill help fund our programs.”
New to this year’s list of vendors is Grey Sail Brewing, a new craft microbrewery located in Westerly. It sells beers through more than 100 bars and liquor stores in Rhode Island and eastern Connecticut. It features a Leaning Chimney Smoked Porter and a light, easy-to-drink Flagship Ale—a robust porter that displays coffee and chocolate characteristics and a bit of peat smokiness. Also new is Tadka India, which offers authentic Northern and Southern Indian food, from exquisitely prepared curries to succulent kebabs, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Lamb Vindaloo. Returning favorites to Taste of the Hill include Siena, Blue Grotto, Angelo’s Civita Farnese, Venda Ravioli, and Narragansett Creamery.
The Federal Hill House Association (FHHA) is celebrating its 125th year. A Providence human services agency, it serves a diverse community of people and delivers a wide range of client-focused services. Originally, it was formed as a settlement house to help immigrants assimilate. Over the years, FHHA has evolved to meet the needs of a growing community. Today, FHHA is a multi-ethnic, social service nonprofit agency, offering services designed to help its constituents meet life’s most difficult challenges and improve their quality of life.
