WASHINGTON – Quonset Business Park just got a funding boost from the federal government to improve its utilities and road access.

The business park received $440,000 through a grant from the U.S. Commerce Department’s Economic Development Administration on Dec. 21.

The roadway improvements is expected to create 275 jobs and generate $50 million in private investment, a news release said.

“The Obama administration is committed to job growth and business development, and this grant will fund vital infrastructure needed in the North Kingstown community,” said U.S. Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development John Fernandez.

“This EDA investment will expand the Quonset Business Park to attract new businesses, including those associated with off-shore wind development, to help diversify the local economy and create new higher-skill, living-wage job opportunities,” he said.

The improvement will serve Compass Circle, a 60 acre development within the Quonset Business Park, a news release said.

Yup, just another in a long series of Government subsidies to the West Bay.

How's that $28 million for the train station doing?

Don't worry the East Bay got a bike path maybe 20 years ago.

Can't wait for the DOT to sell the new Sakonnet bridge to RIBTA and then use the proceeds to pay for maintenance on the other 600+ bridges around the state.

Yeah, we have it made in the East Bay.
