Feijo pleads guilty to selling unapproved health products

PROVIDENCE _ The owner of Daniel Chapter One, a self-proclaimed health and healing ministry, pleaded guilty in federal court last week to tax evasion and selling unapproved products for cancer treatment and prevention.

James Feijo, 68, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to one count of introduction of a new unapproved drug and one count of tax evasion, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Peter F. Neronha.

In pleading guilty, Feijo admitted that he marketed, sold and distributed health products through the Portsmouth-based business such as 7 Herb Formula, Bio Shark and GDU, which the U.S. Food and Drug Administration had not approved as safe and effective for the cure, mitigation, treatment or prevention of cancer, Neronha said.

Feijo is scheduled to be sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge John J. McConnell, Jr., on Jan. 12. •
