Edward D. Feldstein has been named co-leader of the new health care industry group at Roberts, Carroll, Feldstein & Pierce Inc. A shareholder of the Providence law firm, he focuses his practice on issues related to business and corporate matters, commercial lending, real estate, workouts and creditors rights and wills, trusts and estates. Feldstein earned his LL.B. from Boston College and is admitted to practice in Rhode Island.

PBN: What led to the creation of the new health care and banking-industry groups?
FELDSTEIN: In recent years, we have added a number of new attorneys who complement our existing, strong and diverse practice groups. During this expansion, our clients in the banking and health care industries helped us to identify that one of the firm’s many strengths is its ability to marshal our expertise in other areas such as litigation, corporate and transactional work, labor and employment law, lobbying, intellectual property and trusts and estates, to service clients’ various needs. We felt the time was right to define the broad range of services we provide at competitive rates to these two major industries.

PBN: What responsibilities will you take on in your new role as co-leader of the health care industry group at Roberts, Carroll, Feldstein & Pierce?
FELDSTEIN: I will be assisting our health care clients by helping them focus on their mission, the delivery of quality health care in the highly competitive environment in which they operate, by managing a broad spectrum of their issues with our one-stop, dedicated team of seasoned attorneys who provide informed, responsive and cost-effective legal representation. I also plan to increase the firm’s visibility and the community’s awareness of the ways in which we can help manage the burden of intense regulation and compliance within the framework of expanding costs and shrinking reimbursements.

PBN: I notice you are also founding director and chairman of The Key Program Inc. What is The Key Program, and how did you become involved?
FELDSTEIN: The Key Program is a nonprofit corporation providing youth services in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. In Rhode Island, Key works closely with both The Providence Center and Child & Family of Newport. … I was one of the three founding directors and officers, when the organization was founded in 1974. •
