PROVIDENCE – Ferguson Perforating Co. recently completed a $2 million expansion of its manufacturing facilities, adding nearly 19,000 square feet to the structure.

The company manufactures perforated metal parts, for products from microwave ovens to metal filters. It added five employees as a result of the expansion, the company announced in a news release.

The addition will accommodate an incubator space for new initiatives, and a production space for new business development. It also allowed the company to streamline its delivery and shipping function. Large trucks can now enter and drive through the addition, and suppliers can offload materials in a sheltered environment.

DiPrete Engineering provided surveying and design services for the addition, which increased the size of the facility by about 25 percent, according to information provided by Ferguson.

Because the site is mostly impervious, Riggs and Gallagher Design Build collaborated with DiPrete on the design for an underground drainage system to improve water quality and mitigate stormwater runoff.

No state incentives were used in the expansion.

“Our new space will provide Ferguson Perforating with manufacturing productivity gains by eliminating waste and improving production flow,” said Bob Colombi, vice president of sales and business development at Ferguson.
