PROVIDENCE – Attorney Diane Finkle was sworn in as the new United States Bankruptcy Judge for the District of Rhode Island on Thursday, Sept. 6.
Finkle, who was sworn in by Clerk of Court Susan M. Thurston, will commence her judicial duties immediately. Her first court session will take place on Thursday, Sept. 13.
Joining Finkle at Thursday’s informal ceremony at 380 Westminster Street were her husband, her former law partners as well as other members of their firm and the bankruptcy court staff.

Finkle took over for Rhode Island’s first and only bankruptcy judge Arthur Votolato, who celebrated his retirement at the end of May after 44 years.

A formal investiture ceremony is planned for early November.
