Gregory Cabral is a managing partner of BlumShapiro’s Rhode Island Office, which recently announced a move from Providence to Cranston, allowing it the ability to growth. Cabral talks with Providence Business News about the move, why the company is growing and what it means for ients.

PBN: BlumShapiro is moving from Providence to Cranston. Why the move?
CABRAL:
We have experienced a tremendous amount of growth over the past few years and have outgrown our current offices. The new location will provide us with approximately 60 percent more space than our previous office, which will not only accommodate our current staff, but it will also allow us to continue to grow here in Rhode Island.

PBN: How long have you been in Providence?
CABRAL:
BlumShapiro’s roots in Providence stretch back more than 40 years. Our predecessor company, Sullivan & Co., which merged into BlumShapiro in 2013, was launched in downtown Providence in 1975. We’ve always had a great relationship with the city of Providence, and — even as we move our office space to Cranston — we’ll continue to do business in Providence and throughout the rest of Rhode Island.

PBN: What would you attribute your growth to?
CABRAL:
Our merger with Sullivan & Company in 2013 along with other strategic investments has given us the opportunity to add and develop new areas of expertise within our firm and provide a wider range of services across multiple industries. Additionally we have been able to augment our audit and tax practices with services provided by BlumShapiro Consulting. Most importantly, however, we owe our success to our people. We take great pride in our deep roster of highly committed, highly talented professionals.

PBN: What does the growth say about the state’s economy?
CABRAL:
Since we serve a great deal of locally based businesses, we see first-hand that the state’s economy is moving in the right direction. Rhode Island is a great place to live and work, and we look forward to seeing the business community continue to flourish.

PBN: Should clients expect any change?
CABRAL:
Our client base has enjoyed a consistent and high-caliber level of service that will not change. We are very proud of our high client retention rates and we do not foresee that changing. Our customers will continue to enjoy the same high-quality, personalized service that they are accustomed to.
