Five Questions With: Peter Parisi

Peter Parisi is the president and CEO of Innovex, a business technology provider headquartered in Lincoln. In October, Innovex acquired Cranston-based IT consulting and Web-development firm Netsense, allowing the company to add website and application development to its suite of services.
Parisi spoke with Providence Business News about what the acquisition means for his company and his plans to continue expanding Innovex in the coming year.
Parisi, a Providence native, holds a degree in accounting from Bryant College and has nearly 20 years of experience in the IT and business services industry. He has been president and CEO of Innovex since he bought the company in 2001.

PBN: How will Innovex’s recent acquisition of Netsense broaden the scope of business services offered by Innovex?
PARISI:
Through the acquisition of Netsense, a Rhode Island-based IT and digital marketing firm, we were able to add two divisions that complement our existing two divisions perfectly. Now, we are able to provide our office equipment clients integrated IT Solutions, including networking, website and application development. We are also able to offer our digital signage clients more digital marketing services to help their businesses grow.

PBN: How many total employees will Netsense add to Innovex?
PARISI:
The most important aspect of the acquisition was the talent we acquired. We added 15 employees to our team. This includes several senior systems engineers, IT technicians, web developers, sales, software architects, digital marketing experts and a few senior-level managers.

PBN: From your perspective, has the demand for integrated services from a single provider, such as office equipment and IT services, increased in recent years?
PARISI:
Yes, office equipment is becoming more embedded in the network and IT staff is becoming responsible for these devices. Providing an integrated solution simplifies things for them and provides more value to our clients. In order to thrive in this industry, you have to be a step ahead and become more IT-centric.

PBN: Just this month, Innovex announced it is hiring for several positions, both in Lincoln and at the regional office in Boston. Are these hires related to the Netsense acquisition and the expansion of Innovex’s services?
PARISI:
Yes, with the acquisition of Netsense and the immediate synergy that was created for our new and existing clients, we now have more business opportunities. In order to fulfill those needs, we are hiring additional support in service, sales and administrative staff. We hope to add more talent to the great staff we already have.

PBN: Do you have plans to continue hiring and expanding into 2014?
PARISI:
The plan is to grow organically by going deeper and wider within our customer base. Additionally, we plan to expand through more acquisitions that would provide more value to our customers. This will cause us to increase our engineering and sales divisions. There are also plans to potentially expand our footprint across southern New England.
