Flyer train service to run annually

WAREHAM, Mass. – The Cape Cod Flyer train service to Hyannis will become an annual feature and will include a new stop in Wareham, The Standard-Times of New Bedford reported last week. The newspaper also said a study to determine the feasibility of year-round weekend service was planned.
The Flyer train service – a partnership between the Mass. Department of Transportation and the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority – brought in 16,586 passengers from Memorial Day to Columbus Day and $290,000 in fare revenue.
The newspaper said that the announcement coincided with Gov. Deval L. Patrick’s weeklong effort to highlight new investments in transportation and education. The governor also planned to announce funding for a $36 million science building at Cape Cod Community College. •
