PROVIDENCE – The second annual Fogarty Foundation Golf Invitational has raised more than $115,000 for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, supporting new grant awards in 2016.
The June 24 golf outing was organized by the John E. Fogarty Foundation for Persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, a nonprofit organization bringing together the community to support inclusive programs and services for people with disabilities.
Held at the Shelter Harbor Golf Club in Charlestown, the day on the links was followed by a competitive silent auction, featuring sought after golf getaways to many of the region’s top destinations. The day’s low score was posted by the Walmart group of Kevin Farquhar, Jeff Graham, and Aziz Syed, which took first place as this year’s champions.
“My Dad loved the game of golf and thanks to the great sponsors and loyal supporters who made this tournament so successful we are able to continue his work by funding the important programs and services needed by people with IDD” said Mary Fogarty McAndrew, chairperson of the Fogarty Foundation and daughter of Congressman John E. Fogarty.
Primary sponsors included fashion accessory designer Dooney and Bourke, automobile import specialists at North Atlantic Distribution, Inc. (NORAD), and the law firms of Wistow, Barylick, Sheehan and Loveley, PC and Thomas J. McAndrew & Associates. Also providing support were Boch Automotive , Mark and Beth Doran, Herb Chambers Lexus, Tervis Tumbler Co. and Walmart.
