Foundation announces strategy department

PROVIDENCE – The Rhode Island Foundation, the state’s largest funder of nonprofit organizations, announced Tuesday that it has created a new department of strategy and public affairs.

The department will combine the staff and responsibilities of the foundation’s communications and marketing department with those of its planning, strategy and special projects department, according to a foundation statement.

The new department will be responsible for developing strategic priorities and plans; engaging key internal and external foundation stakeholders; cultivating a broad range of community partners; developing a foundationwide system of performance evaluation; overseeing research support for all departments; and for managing special projects.

Jessica David, vice president of strategy and public affairs, will oversee department efforts.

“As a philanthropic and civic leader, The Rhode Island Foundation continues to grow and transform to meet the needs of the people of Rhode Island,” said Rhode Island Foundation President and CEO Neil Steinberg in the statement. “Our new Strategy and Public Affairs team will help enhance the foundation’s core business of fundraising and grantmaking by aligning it with innovative new initiatives that help us and all Rhode Islanders build for the future.”
