Foundation seeks Best Practices applicants

PROVIDENCE – Nonprofits have until April 1 to apply for the Rhode Island Foundation’s 2015 Best Practices Awards.
The winners will receive an unrestricted grant of $1,000 and tuition waivers for up to two board or staff members to any of the Foundation’s professional development programs in the coming year.
“This is a great way for nonprofits to showcase their innovative work while sharing successes that have the potential to be of widespread benefit to other organizations,” said Jill Pfitzenmayer, vice president of the foundation’s Initiative for Nonprofit Excellence.
Sponsored by Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island, the awards program recognizes outstanding practices by Rhode Island nonprofit organizations in the areas of advocacy, communication, innovation, leadership development and collaboration.
Last year’s recipients included the Providence Student Union; ecoRI News; the Rhode Island Coalition Against Domestic Violence; the Capital Good Fund; and the Providence Children’s Museum.
The Initiative for Nonprofit Excellence supports nonprofits by sharing best practices, providing tools, doing good research, and encouraging leadership. It provides tools and information to promote good governance, sound management, cross-sector collaboration and research.
