Cost to obtain franchise:

$25,000 franchise purchase fee; $90,000 mobile shop build-out

Before opening franchise:

“I was a winch mechanic in the sailing industry for 15 years.”

Reason for opening:

“I love being a mechanic, and this is similar to what I was doing in the sailing industry. I’ve been working on bikes since I was a kid, so this was a natural fit for me.” n

“You go online, punch in your zip code and see several time slots when I’m in the area, and I show up – it’s really about simplicity. I can come to your house or your workplace.”

“The basic tuneup and major tuneup are the most popular services right now. The misconception is that we’re the AAA of biking and we’re not – I’ll come just to tune up your bike, and I’m able to fix anything from a low-end bike to a high-end racer.”

“We’re not trying to take the place of, or compete with local bike shops. We don’t sell bikes, helmets or apparel. I’m working on creating relationships with … bike shops, because I need a place to send my customers when they’re looking to buy a bike. In the off-season this winter, I plan to offer ski tuneups.”
