Free Newport Hospital lecture on heart health set

Newport Hospital will offer a community lecture on heart health Feb. 23. Dr. George Charlton of The Cardiovascular Institute at Newport Hospital and Sam Baldwin, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation coordinator, will lead a discussion about the steps that patients can take to help prevent heart disease.

“Making even small changes toward improving heart health – such as healthy eating and regular exercise – can often have a big impact on your quality of life and reducing your risk of heart disease,” said Charlton.

This marks the second year of Newport Hospital’s lecture series, which offers the community an opportunity to learn more about different health issues and interact with hospital clinicians. The lecture will be held from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in Newport Hospital’s Gudoian Conference Room, just off the main lobby of the hospital, at 11 Friendship St.

Registration is not required, but seating is limited. To reserve a seat, call 401-845-1492 or sign up at www.newporthospital.org. Free blood pressure screenings will also be provided from 6-6:30 p.m.
