Posted 2/20/12

PROVIDENCE – The state’s first-ever free dental clinic for uninsured and underinsured will be held June 2-3 at the Community College of Rhode Island’s Flanagan Campus in Lincoln, the Rhode Island Oral Health Foundation announced on Feb. 8.

At the clinic, volunteer dentists and hygienists will provide cleanings, fluoride treatments, dental sealants, X-rays, oral-health education, fillings, tooth extractions, some root-canal treatments and minor denture repairs.

The event is part of a national Mission of Mercy program that, since 2000, has helped more than 100,000 patients and provided nearly $50 million in free services at clinics in 24 states. •
