PROVIDENCE – Full Channel Inc., Rhode Island’s only locally owned, family-run broadband provider, plans to lower pricing for its business Internet services by up to $51 beginning Oct. 1.

The Warren-based provider will offer business Internet customers the choice of three speed tiers, including the new “Business Diamond” tier, which adds connection speeds as fast as 55 megabits per second through Full Channel’s newly upgraded fiber optic broadband network.

Current pricing for Full Channel’s business internet are $74.99 per month for the 8-Mbps “Business Silver” service and $139.99 per month for the 25-Mbps “Business Gold” service.

After the new prices go into effect next month, the base cost for Business Silver will remain the same, while Business Gold will see a major price reduction, from $139.99 to $89.99.

Customers can receive discounts on these services if they also purchase Full Channel’s “Standard Plus” TV service. With the discount, Business Silver will cost $59.99 and Business Gold will cost $68.99.

The new premium 55-Mpbs Business Diamond service will cost $249.99, or $199.99 with the TV bundle discount.

All three business Internet service tiers currently include a broadband modem, seven ad-free Gmail accounts, Web space hosted on FullChannel.net, Cloud-based file storage on Google Drive, email spam filtering and virus protection and more, all without a contract.

Full Channel also offers custom enterprise-level service with speeds up to 10 gigabits per second, Maaia said, and plans to begin offering business telephone services in the next few months.

The broadband provider’s major local competitors are Cox Communications and Verizon Communications Inc.

Cox Business Internet Select, with download speeds of 15 Mbps, costs $69.99 per month, $20 cheaper than Full Channel’s new pricing for its faster 25-Mbps Business Gold service. Cox Business Internet Select includes 10 email accounts, 10 GB of backup storage, 10 Internet security suite licenses and a domain name, according to the company’s website.

Offering speeds up to 50 Mbps, Cox Business Internet Premium costs $259.99 per month (only $10 more than Full Channel’s comparable 55-Mbps Business Diamond service) and includes 10 email accounts, 25 GB of backup storage, 25 Internet security suit licenses and a domain name.

Verizon offers two types of business Internet service—high speed Internet and the Verizon FiOS fiber optics hook up. Both types include online backup and sharing services and an internet security suite.

Verizon’s tier-four high speed Internet package offers download speeds around 7 Mbps for $84.99 per month without a contract, according to Verizon’s website. With a two-year contract, the same package costs $74.99, the same price as Full Channel’s comparable 8-Mpbs Business Silver service.

The Verizon FiOS fiber optics tier-two Internet package, offering download speeds of up to 50 Mbps, costs $89.99 per month without a contract, or $79.99 with a two-year contract.

The FiOS package beats Full Channel’s advertised price of $249.99 for its comparable 55-Mbps Business Diamond service, and even the TV bundle discount price of $199.99.
