GTECH brings new game to customers

PROVIDENCE – GTECH S.p.A. has signed an agreement with Arizona Gaming Designs LLC to bring the patent-pending lottery game, Plus or Minus (also known as 1-Off) to GTECH customers.
Plus or Minus is a type of Pick-3 and Pick-4 daily numbers game, in which players can win even if their chosen numbers do not match the numbers drawn by the lottery. Instead, players win if they get an exact match or if any of their chosen numbers is one higher or one lower than the numbers drawn. Each wager gives the player 27 possibilities for Pick-3 and 81 possibilities for Pick-4 Plus or Minus. The product joins similar numbers games such as Straight, Box, Combo, Front 3 and Back 3.
“Our customers are always looking for innovative ways to improve their players’ favorite games,” said GTECH senior vice president of lottery product marketing, Stefano Monterosso. “We believe that Plus or Minus is an excellent opportunity for lotteries to do just that on numbers games, and we are happy to be able to offer preferred pricing to our customers.”
The game was initially launched by the Florida Lottery in 2010, followed by the Missouri Lottery in July 2013. Plus or Minus has seen a positive response from players because of the increased likelihood of winning, which led to an increase of sales in the draw games category, according to the release. Missouri has seen an increase of Pick-3 and Pick-4 game sales of more than 8.5 percent since Plus or Minus made its debut.
The Michigan Lottery added Plus or Minus to its gaming repertoire on Aug. 3, 2014. It was the first to launch the game through the new partnership between GTECH and Arizona Gaming Designs.

The contract is through the end of 2015, and can be extended for up to three years. While no terms for the deal were released, GTECH said that it will pay a percentage of every game sold to Arizona Gaming, with the percentage varying by customer.
