GTECH inks 5-year deal with German lottery

PROVIDENCE – GTECH Global Services Corp., the wholly owned subsidiary of Lottomatica Group SpA has signed a five-year contract extension with the German Westdeutsche Lotterie GmbH & Co. OHG.
GTECH, which has been providing lottery technology and ongoing services to WestLotto since 2005, will continue to provide central system upgrades and ongoing support services through 2018.The contract also called for three one-year expansion options.
“WestLotto is a highly-respected, forward-thinking organization, and an early adopter of GTECH’s Enterprise Series solution,” GTECH President and CEO Jaymin B. Patel said in prepared remarks.
“WestLotto’s original decision to deploy this solution has been validated as with this contract, they will receive the latest version of ES through a technology evolution – an option we will continue to offer to all of our customers, as appropriate, in lieu of a full migration,” added Patel. “The upgraded platform eliminates the potential risks involved with a migration to a new system, and will give WestLotto the ability to take full advantage of the latest technology advancements in order to capture future business growth opportunities.”
In addition to providing WestLotto with GTECH’s Enterprise Series central system technology upgrades and ongoing software services, the company also serves as general contractor for more than 3,600 lottery terminals utilized in WestLotto’s lottery operations state-wide.
According to a GTECH release, WestLotto is the largest lottery in Germany with most recent annual lottery sales of $2.03 billion, and is among the top 10 best-performing lotteries in Europe in terms of total sales.
