GTECH subsidiary outsources technical services

PROVIDENCE – GTECH International announced Friday that its subsidiary, SPIELO International UK Ltd., has contracted with global IT services company HCL Technologies Ltd. to outsource its technical operations services.
“We have a long and positive experience working with specialist technology service providers, including HCL, and are confident that this new partnership, given the current market climate, is the best solution for both our employees and our customers,” said Walter Bugno, GTECH president and CEO.
Under the multi-year services agreement, SPIELO affiliate Boss Media AB will transfer the employment of approximately 160 employees in Växjö, Sweden, to HCL. The software services HCL will provide to SPIELO were previously provided in-house by Boss Media.
HCL will also provide coding and technical services subject to SPIELO’s quality assurance standards. SPIELO will continue to own all current and future intellectual property, customer contracts and agreements, and is responsible for providing customers with product specifications, design, deliveries and ongoing service.

Negotiations with trade union representatives are underway, with the goal of transferring the affected employees to HCL by Nov. 1, 2013.
The closing of the agreement is expected following the completion of the employee transfer.
