PROVIDENCE – John Galvin, Chief Financial Officer of Collette Vacations, has been named chairman of EngageRI.

Galvin will take over immediately for Edward J. Cooney, who has served as chairman and president of the nonprofit since its 2011 inception.

“EngageRI is committed to being a positive voice in the policy discussions around pension reform,” Galvin said in prepared remarks.

“As we examine the work being done by the cities and towns to stabilize their pension systems, I look forward to promoting solutions that provide a secure retirement for retirees and employees that is equitable and sustainable for all taxpayers,” added Galvin.

Galvin, a University of Massachusetts Amherst alumnus, has held the CFO position at Collette since 1989.

“John brings a deep and broad understanding of the challenges facing our state and our municipalities,” said outgoing chairman and president Cooney. “As a CPA, a community leader and an executive with one of Rhode Island’s most successful family businesses, he was a clear choice to lead EngageRI.”
