Gas prices down a penny

PROVIDENCE – Gasoline declined by one penny in Rhode Island, according to AAA Southern New England.
The auto club’s Oct. 24 survey found the average price of self-serve, regular gasoline at Ocean State stations was $3.55 per gallon, 9 cents above the national average. A year ago, it was 70 cents lower at $2.84.
In Massachusetts, self-serve, regular gasoline was unchanged this week at $3.50.
Crude oil topped $90 a barrels for the first time in six weeks on the New York Mercantile Exchange, Bloomberg News reported.
Crude for December delivery rose $2.82, or 3.2 percent, to $90.22 a barrel at 11:25 a.m. on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Brent oil for December settlement increased $1.28, or 1.2 percent, to $110.84 a barrel on the London-based ICE Futures Europe exchange.
At stations in Rhode Island this week, the survey found average self-serve prices of $3.73 per gallon for midgrade unleaded, $3.86 for premium unleaded gasoline and $3.95 for diesel.
