PROVIDENCE – Gasoline prices fell a penny in Rhode Island, and gained a penny in Massachusetts, according to the weekly survey by AAA Southern New England.
AAA’s Sept. 8 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $3.52 per gallon, which is 1 cent less than the price last week. Prices are 7 cents lower than a month ago, but 8 cents more than the national average for regular unleaded of $3.44.
A year ago at this time, Rhode Island’s average per gallon price was $3.72.
The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for for unleaded regular in the Ocean State is 38 cents, from $3.34 to $3.72.
The average per-gallon prices for different grades of gas ranged from $3.76 for mid-grade unleaded to $3.88 for premium unleaded and $3.89 for diesel.
In Massachusetts, AAA found self-serve regular gas averaging $3.46 per gallon, 1 cent more than last week. Prices are 5 cents lower than a month ago, and the current price is a penny more than the national average for self-serve. A year ago at this time, the Massachusetts average price was 20 cents higher at $3.66.
Prices range from a low of $3.29 to a high of $3.89 per gallon.
The average per-gallon prices for different grades of gas ranged from $3.67 for mid-grade unleaded to $3.81 for premium unleaded and $3.86 for diesel.
