“Lower gas prices continue to be welcome news for consumers, who are saving an estimated $500 million each day,” Lloyd P. Albert, senior vice president of public and government affairs at AAA Northeast, said in a statement. “Barring any unforeseen circumstances, AAA sees no reason for this trend not to continue in the short term.”
Prices range from $2.24 to a high of $2.59, with average prices for grades of self-serve gasoline as follows: $2.74 for midgrade unleaded, $2.89 for premium unleaded and $3.13 for diesel.
In Massachusetts, prices are 42 cents lower than a month ago, but 16 cents more than the national average. A year ago at this time, prices were $1.11 higher at $3.48. Massachusetts prices range from $2.17 to $2.89, and average per-gallon prices for different grades of self-serve gas are as follows: $2.67 for midgrade unleaded, $2.79 for premium unleaded and $3.16 for diesel.
AAA offered the following fuel saving tip of the week: “If your vehicle’s engine does not need premium fuel, using anything other than regular is simply a waste of money.”
