PROVIDENCE – For the second consecutive week, gas prices have fallen in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, AAA Northeast said Monday.
In the Ocean State, self-serve, regular unleaded gas prices fell 3 cents to $2.29 per gallon, which is 3 cents below the national average of $2.32. A year ago at this time, the average price in Rhode Island was 37 cents lower at $1.92.
Unleaded regular gasoline prices range from $2.20 to $2.49, with midgrade unleaded at $2.56; premium unleaded, $2.76; and diesel, $2.58.
Self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline prices in Massachusetts decreased 2 cents to $2.24 per gallon. A year ago, the average price in Massachusetts was $1.85.
Prices in the Bay State for unleaded regular range from $2.10 to $2.39, with midgrade unleaded at $2.47; premium unleaded, $2.65; and diesel, $2.56.
“While all eyes remain on OPEC and their ability to ensure compliance with their production cut agreement, increased U.S. oil production could negatively impact the OPEC global oil rebalancing effort,” Lloyd Albert, senior vice president of public and government affairs for AAA Northeast, said in a statement.
