Gas prices drop in R.I., remain the same in Mass.

PROVIDENCE – Regular self-serve gasoline fell 2 cents in Rhode Island this week, but prices are unchanged in Massachusetts, AAA Northeast said Monday.

In Rhode Island, self-serve, regular unleaded is averaging $2.32 per gallon. Rhode Island’s price is 5 cents lower than the national average of $2.37. A year ago at this time, the average price in Rhode Island was 42 cents higher at $2.74.
Prices for regular unleaded in the Ocean State range from $2.22 to $2.55; the average for midgrade unleaded is $2.55; premium unleaded, $2.73; and diesel, $2.38.
Self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline in Massachusetts again is $2.29 per gallon; that price is 8 cents below the national average. A year ago at this time, the average price in Massachusetts was 38 cents higher at $2.67.
Prices for regular unleaded in the Bay State range from $2.13 to $2.59; the average for midgrade unleaded is $2.51; premium unleaded, $2.68; and diesel, $2.34.
