George Wiley Center hosting Quiz Bowl

The George Wiley Center is hosting its fifth annual “Quiz Bowl” fundraiser Sept. 26.
The Quiz Bowl is a night of team trivia, in which teams of up to eight people compete for the Wiley Center’s “Brightest Bulb” Award. All ages are welcome, and diversity is encouraged and recommended for those hoping to take the trophy. “The Molly Maguires” are defending champions.
The event takes place from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at McCoy Stadium.
“Quizmaster” for the evening is Bob Kerr, a longtime Providence Journal reporter and columnist.
The contest features nine rounds of six questions, with “extra innings” in case of a tie. Questions will be drawn from categories of random knowledge. Use of smartphones and other 21st century technology is not allowed.
The suggested donation of $50 per person includes dinner at the break and snacks all night, with a cash bar. Any team paid in full before Sept. 12 receives 25 free raffle tickets for a chance to win donated prizes. Raffle tickets will also be available the night of the event. Space is limited, so advance registration is suggested.
Sponsors include MetLife, Collette Vacations, UFCW Local 328, Motley Rice, Cavanagh Company, CVS Caremark, Coastal Medical and Pawtucket Credit Union. Sponsorship opportunities are still available, and raffle donations are sought.
