Gillen receives national behavioral health award

PROVIDENCE – The Providence Center’s director of recovery services, Jim Gillen, recently received an award for Individual Achievement in Advocacy at the National Council for Behavioral Health’s conference, held in Orlando.

The awards program honors individuals who have had a national impact in the field of behavioral health. Gillen was praised for his role in founding Anchor Recovery Community Center, the first recovery community center in Rhode Island.

“Jim Gillen put recovery on the map in Rhode Island and put Rhode Island on the national recovery map,” said Dale K. Klatzker, president of The Providence Center. “I can think of no one more deserving of national recognition for advocacy.”
