Golf event supports Healthy Kids Initiative

ROVIDENCE – A fourth annual golf outing and fundraiser in memory of Christopher Yates on Sept. 15 at the Metacomet Country Club will help support the Kent County YMCA’s Healthy Kids Initiative.
The Kent County YMCA is a branch of the YMCA of Greater Providence, a nonprofit serving adults and children in Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts. The Healthy Kids Initiative provides swim lessons, before and after school care, summer camp, sports, martial arts and other programs to children and teens in need.
The event starts at noon, with check-in and lunch. A shotgun kickoff follows at 1 p.m. Those who would like to be involved may play golf, but could participate in other activities instead if they choose. Participants may also donate auction items, join the Y for dinner, purchase a tee sign or become a corporate sponsor.
The country club is located at 500 Veterans Memorial Parkway in East Providence.
