Gowrie Group to sponsor Bristol museum

WESTBROOK, Conn. – Independent insurance agency Gowrie Group, based in Westbrook, Conn., is sponsoring Herreshoff Marine Museum in Bristol to support its mission of “educating and inspiring the public through presentations of history and innovative work,” according to a press release.
The insurer, which specializes in commercial, municipal, personal, equine and yacht insurance, has more than 155 professional service clients in Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. It’s joining the museum as a “Silver Level” sponsor, and will support several museum events, including the Classic Yacht Symposium and the Herreshoff Classic Regatta, according to the release.
“When you grow up on Buzzards Bay, with 50 or more H-12s in the harbor, Herreshoff was always a revered name,” said Dan Cooney of the commercial lines department at Gowrie. “Supporting the Herreshoff Marine Museum is like supporting apple pie and the flag – the innovative story at HMM is the story of how our country because the greatest industrial country in the 20th century.”
