Granite expands R.I. operations

LINCOLN – Granite Telecommunications LLC, on Monday planned a ribbon-cutting for a new office that marks an expansion in Rhode Island, adding 50 employees.

Gov. Lincoln D. Chafee was expected to attend the ribbon-cutting for the new office on Albion Road, which replaces a prior location in Smithfield that included 11 workers. The Lincoln office houses approximately 60 workers.

The Quincy, Mass.-based company is a provider of telecommunications, data, networking and other communications and alarm services. The firm provides services to more than two-thirds of the Fortune 100 companies in the United States, and 1.3 million phone lines under management, according to a news release.

Granite’s core services are local and long-distance telephone services, which the company says it centralizes and provides a single point of billing and contact for customers.
