Greenwood appoints Elias as VP, names Powell to board

WARWICK – Stephen Elias last month was appointed the new vice president of indirect lending at Greenwood Credit Union, Rhode Island’s third-largest credit union.
He will be responsible for maintaining and establishing relationships with local and national automobile dealerships. Elias’ work history comprises similar positions within financial institutions. He was the director of the New England Association of Retail Lending, a nonprofit organization assisting lenders in the automobile finance business, In addition, he has more than 40 years of experience in auto lending in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
Greenwood Credit Union also named Sandra Powell to its board of directors on June 28 at its annual meeting. Powell works at R.I. Department of Health as the acting associate director, overseeing departments which control agency communications, regulations, policy and planning. Previously, she has held department director positions at both the R.I. Department of Human Services and the R.I. Department of Labor and Training. She also has participated on the board of directors for Year Up Providence and The Providence Plan.

Greenwood Credit Union, established in 1948, has more than $387 million in assets, 53,000 members and approximately 70 employees.
