Greenwood captures gold at Ryder Cup

WARWICK – Team America, sponsored by the Greenwood Credit Union, won the Annual Ryder Cup Golf Tournament on Oct. 7.
Hosted by the Central Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce, proceeds from the tournament totaling nearly $8,000 will support the Chamber, which in turn supports the business community.
Greenwood CEO Jim Irving served as captain for Team America, which won for the second year in a row.
“We are always thankful and impressed by the number of businesses and individuals that come together to support this tournament,” said Lauren Slocum, president and CEO of the Chamber. “We couldn’t do it without the sponsors, the volunteers and the golf committee we have. And we’ve already got people signing up for next year so we’re looking forward to another year.”
The tournament was comprised of 27 holes at the Warwick Country Club. The limited field of 80 golfers on the course completed the course in five hours, Slocum said.
