WARWICK – Greenwood Credit Union has been recognized by the Credit Union National Association Inc. as one of the industry’s best in providing direct financial benefits to members, according to a press release.
Greenwood Credit Union delivers a direct benefit of about $252 per household member, based on information supplied by the credit union staff to the national association.
“These benefits arise from Greenwood Credit Union’s low loan interest rates, higher than average deposit yields and on the practice of imposing fewer or lower fees compared to banking institutions,” said Cheryl Sorenson, spokeswoman for the Credit Union National Association.
The Warwick-based credit union was recognized at the CUNA CFO Council Conference in Phoenix in May.
“I always thought GCU did more for its members than any other financial institution and it’s nice to have an independent validation from CUNA,” said Greenwood Credit Union CFO Joe Lajoie. “We rank first among credit unions under $400 million and we are proud of that record, as well as of the recognition.”
