PROVIDENCE – Providence has the friendliest local businesses in the country.
Groupon, which ranked the top 10 cities in the U.S., said Rhode Island’s capital city beat out the competition because it has the highest percentage of merchants with a 90 percent satisfaction rating or higher from Groupon customers.
Groupon said its data showed that the Providence area has the friendliest local businesses, which have products and services that “constantly satisfy our subscribers.”
“As the capital of the nation’s smallest and second-most densely populated state, it probably behaves a bit like a small town: word gets around when some place is extra-friendly. And if customers are spreading around comments that are anything like the ones they leave on our site, it’s no surprise friendly Providence businesses keep gaining fans,” Groupon said.
Groupon specifically singled out Providence businesses such as Bocado Tapas Wine Bar, Clayground pottery studio and Salon KG as examples of why Providence ranked No. 1.
The rest of the top 10? Milwaukee; New Orleans; Tampa-St. Petersburg, Fla.; Hartford, Conn.; Dallas; Houston; Cincinnati; Pittsburgh; and Charlotte, N.C.
“Our annual ‘Best of Groupon’ collection highlights merchants across the nation that have delivered unbeatable service to customers, and we’re proud to showcase these great locally owned businesses in our marketplace,” Aaron Cooper, senior vice president, Groupon, said in a statement.
