H.V. Collins wins $30.8M contract

BOSTON – Providence-based contracting firm H.V. Collins Co. landed a $30.8 million bid for the construction of a new Central Middle School in Quincy, according to Boston.com.
H.V. Collins beat out competing bids ranging from $32 million to $35 million and is expected to complete construction by September 2013.
The bid, which was on time after some delays in court over the legality of Quincy’s bid practices, came within the construction budget proposed by the Massachusetts School Building Authority, said the news source.
The MSBA will reimburse the city for 80 percent of the costs for most of the project, city mayoral spokesperson Christopher Walker told Boston.com.
