Friday morning, thousands are expected to gather along a 1.5-mile stretch of the Misquamicut shoreline to commemorate beach recovery. From Westerly’s Pleasant View Inn to the Westerly Town Beach, participants will line the beach hand in hand as a helicopter records this activity, said to symbolize local beach recovery efforts following Superstorm Sandy. A brief speaking program will take place, followed by singing of the national anthem.
