SMITHFIELD – Hanna Instruments, a family-owned measuring instruments company, moved its domestic division from Woonsocket to Smithfield, The Valley Breeze reported Wednesday.
The international company opted for a vacant, 35,000-square-food building at 270 George Washington Highway “because of its central location and access to highways and airports.”
Hanna bought the building from Richard Conti and renovated it at a cost of roughly $2 million. The company expects to continue expanding.
The division’s 41 employees include the sales team, customer service, and shipping and receiving.
Hanna’s measuring devices range from a device to test the salt content in Italian cheese rolls to a meter NASA used to test sealants on a space shuttle.
