This year’s Hasbro Children’s Hospital radiothon brought in $436,270 worth of donations that will support pediatric care, family programs and research at the hospital.
Earlier this month, more than 40 children and their families used the airwaves to share their personal stories of medical triumph in hopes of soliciting funds from the community. Listeners heard tales of hope and healing on topics such as neurology, cancer and palliative care, and then called in to contribute money to the cause.
“Every dollar raised benefits the families who often come to us at their most vulnerable moments,” said Dr. Timothy J. Babineau, president and CEO of Lifespan, and president of Rhode Island Hospital and Hasbro Children’s Hospital. “Thanks to the generosity of all those in the community who support the radiothon year after year, we are always ready and able to provide the best care possible.”
The event was broadcast live from Hasbro Children’s Hospital for a total of 15 hours. Since the radiothon began in 2005, more than $5 million has been raised.
(Corrected: The original headline said that Hasbro Children's Hospital had netted $436,270. This was actually the gross total.)
